The San Francisco Giants acquired Pittsburgh Pirates 2nd Baseman and All Star, Freddy Sanchez today in exchange for pitching prospect Tim Alderson. The move not only helped bolster a Giants team that has been carried mostly by their pitching and in sore need of some offense, but it also created one of the more awkward situations in the major leagues, as the trade was announced immediately following the game played between the two teams earlier today.
The move should help the Giants win the NL Wildcard and go to the playoffs.
